The Web Editor will report to the Executive Editor and, as part of the Foreign Affairs editorial team, help shape the magazine’s coverage across platforms; manage the website’s editorial activities; conceptualize, commission, and edit online features; shape short- and long- term development priorities; and supervise the work of junior editors. Foreign Affairs has more than 200,000 print and digital subscribers, and more than one million monthly visitors to the website.
CFR’s volunteer internships give selected volunteer interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning.
The Foreign Affairs Publishing Department has a strong focus on marketing the magazine to educators, students, foreign policy associations and other non-profit organizations. Foreign Affairs produces academic resources such as Foreign Affairs Books and Custom Textbooks. These titles are used by professors in International Relations, Foreign Policy, and International Political Economy from universities and colleges in the U.S. and Canada. The internship offers an exciting opportunity to learn about marketing, outreach, and academic publishing at the preeminent journal of international affairs.
CFR volunteer internships are unpaid, require a 16- 21 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.
Foreign Affairs is the leading journal in the field of U.S. foreign policy and international affairs. The Social Media and Audience Development Editor will identify and craft story angles to grow Foreign Affairs' following and circulation through social media, newsletters, partnerships, and more. We are looking for someone who has strong experience in using social platforms to promote a publication and build audience engagement.
